I sell feelings, not products.
I'm an award-winning wedding photographer with over seventeen years behind the camera and more than five hundred weddings photographed. I never planned to become a photographer — it just happened the moment I picked up a camera at fifteen. What started as curiosity turned into a passion, and then a career that has taken me across seven countries and countless emotional moments.
I grew up in Kyiv, Ukraine, where I first began shooting weddings and became one of the top-rated photographers in my city. When the war forced me to leave, I rebuilt my life and my business from scratch in the United States — new language, new market, new clients. It wasn't a smooth road, and I'm thankful for that: every struggle made me better, not just as a photographer, but as a person.
Today I'm based in Springfield, Missouri, recently named the best photographer across four states by wedding vendors through Metropolitan Weddings. My style is cinematic and emotional — I don't believe in posing. To me photography is about connection, storytelling and energy: the in-between moments, the atmosphere, the feeling of the day.
Many of my couples tell me they forgot I was even there — that's when the real magic happens. Your wedding photos shouldn't just be beautiful; they should carry the life and soul of the day, so that ten or twenty years from now you can sit down and live it all again.
Today Max Sydko Photography is more than one photographer — I work alongside a hand-picked team of associate photographers I've personally trained in my style, so I can cover more weddings a year while every couple gets the same cinematic, emotion-first storytelling my name stands for.
“To me, photography isn't about posing — it's about candid, storytelling and emotion.”
