What it's like to photograph a Graystone Valley wedding

The ridge faces west, which means the ceremony overlook catches warm, directional light every evening about 60–90 minutes before sunset. For Candace and Michael's wedding we built the entire timeline around that window — hair and makeup wrapped early so we had time for bride portraits in the suite, the ceremony started as the light turned gold, and we walked straight to the overlook afterward for 25 minutes of post-ceremony couple portraits with the Ozark hills in the background. Inside the reception building the open ceiling and warm wood keep the color palette soft; mixed with flash on the dance floor, it produces cinematic reception photos without ever feeling harsh.
